Pradosh Vrat Katha -
According to the legend, there lived a Brahmin in a town. Her husband had passed away. She no longer had any support, so she used to go out to beg with her son as soon as the morning. She took care of herself and her son.
One day the Brahmin was returning home when he found a boy moaning in an injured condition. The brahmin brought him to her house out of kindness. The boy was the prince of Vidarbha. Enemy soldiers had invaded his kingdom and had taken his father captive and had taken control of the kingdom, so he was going back and forth. The prince started living with the Brahmin son in the Brahmin’s house. One day a Gandharva girl named Anshumati saw the prince and she was fascinated by him. The next day Anshumati brought her parents to meet the prince. He also liked the prince. A few days later, Anshumati’s parents were ordered by Lord Shankar in a dream that the prince and Anshumati should be married. That’s what was done.
Along with observing Pradosh fast, Brahmins used to worship Lord Shankar. With the effect of Pradosh Vrat and with the help of Gandharvaraj’s army, the prince drove away from the enemies from Vidarbha and lived happily again with his father. The prince made a Brahmin son his prime minister. It is believed that just as the days changed due to the effect of the Pradosh fasting of Brahmins, in the same way, Lord Shankar changes the days of his devotees.
